Matt Korobov (27-2, 13 KO’s) didn’t win the fight, but he won a lot of fans after giving Charlo a run for his money. Korobov fought valiantly showing that he has a strong chin.
Jermall, having to step into the ring for the main-event of the night at the Barclays Center after watching his brother Jermell fall to defeat in the co-main event had to push himself mentally pass the thoughts of what he had just witnessed. Jermall captured a UD with scores of 119-108, 116-112, 116-112 retaining his WBC Title and keeping his undefeated record intact.
“I used everything that happened tonight as motivation in the 12th round. I haven’t been that far in a fight in a couple of years. It felt good to be in there, get hit and bang with someone. He was an experienced guy who will make me better.
“I had fun in there with an opponent like that. I got the win and that’s the main thing. I still feel I’m the best in the world. I just need to prove it to the rest of the world.
“I felt like Jermell made his fight harder than it was. I had a really tough opponent, but he wasn’t better than me. There was a lot on my mind in the ring.”
